The Dead Eye Dog

“You got him?” Adrian asked through the com-link
“Yeah I got him just waiting for him to slow down,” responded the girl on the other end
“He’s heading towards a crowd by the time he slows down it will be to late. There’s no way I’m doing a public vampire kill” Adrian responded as he watched the vampire turn a corner towards main street
“Don’t worry Adrian, have faith,” she answered “me and Fred have him”
“Then take the shot!” he yelled through the com-link as he saw the vampire merge with the crowd
“Men,” she murmured. She considered torturing it but with a crowd around she didn’t want to risk it. So she settled on a clear guaranteed kill, turning on her scope she looked down it and saw the vampire clearing walking amongst the living. She zeroed in on the vampire walking casually through the crowd and smiled “you’re not the only one that can separate them from the rest of us, Adrian”
She pulled the trigger and not a second later there was nothing left of the vampire but a pile of ash.
Adrian walked up to the pile of ash and kicked it scuffing his boots. Then looking up into the distance to where she was set up on top of a tower a kilometre away, “that was too close Maree”
She laughed smiling like the Cheshire Cat “you got to have faith in me and Fred, Adrian” she said referring to her giant sniper rifle, a customized American “God Gun” class sniper rifle, “I’m a Dead Eye Dog not an amateur”
