The Earthbound Angels

“Ok I know you guys are Angels but I didn’t think Angels were allowed on earth, after the whole thing with Azazeal”
“This is true, Angels were outlawed from walking among men but I guess to answer your question is to say we’re the exception rather then the rule just as vampires are the exception for demons” Ronin replied then seeing the confused look on Adrian’s face decided to continue “when vampires were created God realized what it would mean the balance would no longer remain because the deceiver would have physical avatars on earth where as God would have none”
“Wasn’t Jesus Christ the physical avatar of God you know being the son of God?”
“Jesus was sent as a spiritual saviour to humanity, to show the world God’s love for them. He was sent to teach humanity about God and to enable the gentiles as they were called to know God as the Jews once did and most importantly to die for the sins of all humanity
“Now getting back to the root of your question, God had left the vampires to grow in numbers unchecked for centuries. I can’t even fathom why but that’s what happened, sure there were vampire hunters and allsorts of orders and secret societies created to combat them but they never had the anointing of God, most of them merely did it out of a quest for revenge or out of some sought of bigotry that drove them to slaughter something they did not understand. In itself it was right to hunt vampires certainly but there motives for doing so were not.
“It was the seventeenth century and the entire host of heaven watched in horror as a vampire was knighted. It was at this point when God realized that the vampires had grown too powerful that he created the first Earthbound Angel. The rules were simple anyone who had died as a Holy Ghost filled Christian could become an Earthbound Angel if they so wished it for Azrael would present them with the choice. Now if the person declined the offer they would go to straight to heaven to do what they do but if they decide as me and Steel did to become Earthbound Angels we would be sent back to Earth and would continue the work of God.
“Now when you become an Earthbound Angel you receive your orders from God as anyone does but in our minds there is no question that it is coming from God because the evil one can lay no longer whisper in our ears. So the orders can be many things from protecting certain individuals to as what Steel and I do most often which is slay vampires and destroy any demonic protection or oppression people may have”
Adrian thought about this for a moment before asking “ok I understand what you are now but it’s curious you always appear to me as Angels but others have told me that you don’t always have wings. So what’s the deal?”
Ronin laughed, “well as you can doubt imagine it’s not like we’re only Angels some of the time, we don’t have to ‘power up’ like Juliet does. What happens is that we have the ability to retract our wings into our bodies so as we can blend in better with the rest of humanity. In the same way we can phase in and out of the sight of people who don’t have spiritual sight simply because we sometimes have to act as invisible hunters of the unseen evil so others can better fight the evil that is seen”
“So you guys are basically God’s answer to vampires” Adrian said receiving clarity
“Exactly” Ronin said nodding
“So is there any others like you?” Adrian asked
Ronin thought about this for a moment “for the most part we can walk past a Earthbound Angel and never know it, sometimes it’s the same for us or there are simply none others assigned to the area”
“Are you forgetting Squirrel?” Steel said speaking for the first time in a while
Ronin laughed, “I did to oh I must apologize to her next time I see her”
“Squirrel?” Arian asked confused
“It’s not her name it’s a nickname really, the first time we met her she was sitting in a tree trying to strike up a conversation with a squirrel. Steel pointed her out to me and smiling I said ‘squirrel’ both she and the squirrel looked at me it stuck ever since. Unfortunately she couldn’t stick around she’s currently assigned to a missionary that’s not exactly interstate much”
“That sucks” Adrian replied
“Yeah it is she’s a cool chick and we really don’t get to see her or others like us enough” Ronin sighed and checked his watch we better get going I want to get into position before dusk. Adrian nodded and the three of them left the room.
